Introduction

The Art and Design Department in St. Patrick’s College promotes active learning and aims to encourage students to be innovative, to develop manipulative skills, to create visual images and form critical judgement.

We aim to offer every student a rich, enjoyable Art education that had breadth, relevance and continuity and to encourage the natural abilities that every student possesses.

Department Aims

Students have opportunities to develop their creativity in a range of media using both traditional and digital methods. Disciplines include printmaking, ceramics, textiles, modelling, animation, graphic design, sculpture and product design. Embedded into the curriculum are historical, cultural, critical and appreciative contexts and these are used to enhance understanding of the work of others.

Art and Design is delivery throughout the school, from Year 8 to Post 16. We follow the OCR Specification at GCSE and A-Level.

Extra-curricular classes include Arts & Crafts and Digital Art alongside additional KS4 and Post 16 support sessions.
